Water Damage Can Be Costly to Repair for a Rock Hill business

You may incur thousands of dollars in Rock Hill commercial water damage if you do not adequately prepare for it and clean it up once there is water damage. Beyond possibly ruining your inventory, equipment and furniture, water damage disturbs the structural integrity of your building. It also poses a threat for mold. Building materials soak up water and become warped. It is easy for mold to permeate water damaged surfaces and spread throughout the entire building. The longer water is allowed to collect and sit, the greater amount of water damage and the amount of money needed to restore the building can be expected. In the event of water damage, contact SERVPRO immediately to assess the commercial damage and restore your building. However, take measures to protect your building to prevent Rock Hill commercial damage in the first place.

For the Interior of Your Building
• Take time to closely inspect all water connections—faucets, hoses and other connections—in the building.
• Closely inspect all pipes. Be aware if there are any cracks and leaks.
• Locate the main water shut-off valve and know how to use it. You may have to turn off water in the event there is a leak.
• Inform personnel about the main water shut-off valve and how to use it as well.
• Discover whether there is an emergency pressure release valve in the plumbing system.
• To protect your property and equipment, develop a flood plan.
• Keep sump pumps clean, and test them every few months.
• Maintain and understand your fire suppression systems.
• Inspect all water supply areas to ensure they’re insulated from the cold.

For the Exterior of Your Building
• Clear debris from your gutters and downspouts.
• Ensure that you have enough downspouts to meet the needs of heavy rains.
• Extend your downspouts to at least 10 feet away from your building, and make sure there is adequate run-off available so that water is not diverted back towards your Rock Hill building
• Keep sump pumps clean, and test them every few months.
• Ensure there are backflow valves on the sanitary sewer line.
• Inspect floor drains, and if you need to standpipes, install them.
• Ensure your roof doesn’t have any leaks or damaged or missing shingles.

Keep a copy of your flood plan available so that personnel can readily access it in the event there is a leak or a flood. Keep the number of SERVPRO on-hand to help assist you with your emergency.
