Secondary Damage Due To Water
Not only does a pipe leak cause water to wet everything it touches, it also can damage and ruin many items. On thing that is common is staining of carpet. Most of the time the water goes through multiple materials before it get to the carpet. It passes through items like drywall, insulation and subfloor. During that time it picks up debris and the water color gets darker and darker. When it finnally gets to the capet and pad it may not be the clean water that comes out of the faucet. At that point the carpet acts like a filter and catches alot of the debris and the dirty water. This is most notisable with lighter colors of carpet. Most of the time we are able to get the stains out, but depending on the amount of time that it sat wet or what type of carpet you have it may not come out at all.
