Freezing Temperatures & Pipes Are Right Around the Corner

Before the onset of cold weather, prevent freezing of your water supply lines and pipes by follow a few recommendations:
- Drain water from swimming pools and water sprinkler supply lines. DO NOT put antifreeze in the lines unless directed as it's environmentally harmful.
- Remove drain and store hoses used outside. Close valves inside that supply outdoor hoses if any. Don't forget to leave the valve outside open so the water can expand without busting the pipe.
- Check your crawlspace, basement, attic, garage and any other areas where supply lines may be located. These supply lines should be insulated.
With colder weather here in South Carolina making it's way here you need to make sure to take preventative action!
- Keep garage doors closed
- Open cabinetry where plumbing lines are to allow warmer air to circulate.
- Keep the thermostat to the same temperature throughout the day.
- If you're going out of town leave the heat on in your home and if possible have someone check the home periodically.
