Storm Season Is Here Hurricane Florence continues to threaten North and South Carolina's coast. We encourage you to prepare your home and business by following these tips from FEMA:Home:1. Cover all of your homes windows with precut plywood or hurricane shutters to protect your windows from high winds.2. Plan to bring in all outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans and anything else that is not tied down.3. Keep all trees and shrubs well trimmed so they are more wind resistant.4. Turn off utilities as instructed. Otherwise turn the refrigerator thermostat to its coldest setting and keep its doors closed.5. Turn off propane tanks.6. Ensure a supply of water for sanitary purposes such as cleaning and flushing toilets. Fill the bathtub and other large containers with water.Business:1. Carefully assess how your company functions, both internally and externally, to determine which staff, materials, procedures and equipment are absolutely necessary to keep the business operating.2. Identify operations critical to survival and recovery.3. Plan what you will do if your building, is not accessible. Consider if you can run the business from a different location or from your home. Develop relationships with other companies to use their facilities in case a disaster makes your location unusable. For more information about us you can visit our SERVPRO yellow pages site.
