Flooded Crawlspace?
Many homeowners in the Fort Mill and Rock Hill area have water damage claims every year. Some of these claims are due to water lines that burst or break in the crawlspace area. The main problem with this is that most of the time they are not aware of the issue due to the location. Not many homeowners inspect a basement or crawlspace often . Because of that the damage can be a lot worse.
Wet Insulation
One of the materials that can be affected by a water leak is insulation. Most homeowners have insulation in the crawlspace area to help with heating and cooling throughout the year. When a leak happens the water can spray directly on the insulation or it can sit on top of the vapor barrier. After sitting on the vapor barrier it can start to evaporate in the right conditions and then affect the insulation or the subfloor of the home.
One of the worst types of a water leak in a Lake Wylie or York County crawlspace is when it is the hot water line that bursts. When this happens hot steam will spread throughout the entire area and most likely affect all the insulation.
Damage Material Removal
When insulation become wet it looses it R-value meaning that it no longer can properly insulate at the rating it was suppose to. At that point we must remove all the damage material and dry the salvageable items.
Drying A Wet Crawlspace
At this point it is time to put in the drying equipment. Air movers and dehumidifiers are used to get all remaining materials back to normal moisture levels.
